1.1 What is shoulder scaption?

Shoulder scaption is a type of exercise that helps to strengthen Rotator Cuff & Deltoids muscles in the shoulders. It is often used to rehab people who have shoulder pain or who have restricted or limited movement (Range-of-Motion) around the shoulder joint . Scaption can help to improve your posture and can also help to prevent injuries to the shoulder joint.

2.1 How can shoulder scaption help you?

Shoulder scaption can help to improve your posture, to strengthen the muscles around your shoulder joint, which are Rotator Cuff Muscles and Deltoids. Scaption can also help to increase your range of motion and to improve your overall mobility.

Rotator Cuff Muscles:

The rotator cuff muscles are a group of muscles and tendons that attach the shoulder blade to the upper arm bone.

These muscles and tendons form a cuff around the shoulder joint and help to lift the arm. The rotator cuff muscles are important for the movement and stability of the shoulder joint.

There are four main muscles in the rotator cuff: the Supraspinatus, the Infraspinatus, the Teres minor, and the Subscapularis. Each of these muscles has a specific function in the shoulder joint.

The Supraspinatus helps to lift the arm.

When the rotator cuff muscles are functional and could able to do it jobs effectively. It helps to keep the Ball & Socket Joint intact. In simple terms, it keeps the shoulder joint intact during the movement.

2.2 How to do it PROPERLY & EFFECTIVELY?

There are a few things to keep in mind when doing shoulder scaption. Since we are training the sensitive shoulder muscles, it should be in the safest movement possible. 

 2.2.1 Be sure to keep your back straight and your shoulders square (don’t round your shoulders & back). Keep your head up and your chin down.

2.2.2 Keep your elbows straight as extended possible but don’t lock it.

2.2.3 Raise your arms diagonally up and when you reached the top, rotate the THUMB OUTSIDE

 

2.2.4 Exhale as you raise your arms and inhale as you lower them
